woohoo!
New Official Release 9.6 of ChessX

Hi James, thanks so much for the great program that is ChessX. One question - is there a simple way to mouse through a game using forward and backward arrows/buttons? I can't seem to find them or find an easy way to set them up. Let me know when you get a chance and thanks again! K
There are purposely no buttons to maximize the space available for your views.
You can move through the game with the left and right arrow keys.
Or select the "Game Menu/Go to/Next Move" Menu selection.
Or just click on the move in the Game List.
Or move the cursor over the Board and use the scroll wheel on your mouse. You can adjust the wheel sensitivity from the Board Tab under Preferences...
I post recent builds of ChessX to www.box.com/chessX

Hi James,
Thanks for getting back to me so promptly. I understand the wish to maximize the space view, but the view is already quite expansive and the button capability is very convenient. I imagine that's why most other databases and GUI's offer this feature.
One other thing to consider. As the number of chess programs expand in US schools, ChessX is likely to become more popular since it is Mac OS friendly. Many schools these days are using the SmartBoard virtual whiteboard and the buttons would work very well with this product. I have been promoting ChessX to my manager, but that was his first critique about the program. "Where are forward/backward buttons?" Food for thought...
Thanks again, just the same. ChessX is a great program.

Hello James,
I've installed ChessX for OS X, but its database is empty. Should I download it separately from somewhere?
Thank you in advance for your answer.

Just an extention of this question, the screenshots show annotated games, which database are you using?
You can get annotated PGN databases from lots of places. Everyman books sell really good books in PGN format.
http://www.angelfire.com/games3/smartbridge/ has lots of annotated games.
http://www.chess.com/download/view/600-annotated-games
http://icofy-blog.de/icofy-base/ has large PGN files of unannotated games
I am sure people can suggest many more
