New Pop-up "Are You Still There..?"

Sort:

This popped up while I was pondering a move in  15/10 game.  I still had 2 minutes 40 on the clock, so I ignored it.   A few seconds later it went away and then the game manager announced that my opponent had won the game.  Is this pop-up new, I've never seen it before, and do I have to answer it?

It thinks you have left the game to allow your opponent to sit there and for their time to run out. I haven't seen it, but just answer it somehow, maybe touch the screen or move your mouse.

If it is only because you are taking your time, it would be outrageous. I suppose somehow the OP lost connection.

Yes chess.com has added this weird "Are you still there thing. You have to click on that notification then it goes away.

And if not the opponent can claim the win?

Pulpofeira

Yes, and there are crime everywhere everyday, still I don't tell "are you looking to me?" to every person I meet.

If not the opponent wins automatically.

Nadia-Hovadova

great idea!

zues_the_god

I despise this prompt and have no idea why it was implemented. I think it's crap and should be removed!

practicemaster

I hate it. It comes up all the time very distracting

SoFarSoBook

I'm spectating live games and this popup comes up. Wish they would remove it.

Why do you care if I'm still there when I'm watching other people's games? Penny-ante cruft like this makes me think twice about investing in a premium membership.

pawns_and_king

it is big fault in user friendly web site approach.

chess.com should handle such intervals in some other ways

My case is that this msg pops up when I still got 4:19 on the clock in a blitz game while the opponent is losing and counting down the last 20sec. After I saw the msg, I click on yes, the prompt disappears, the game then set. I first thought it was some cheating code becuz it looks like the other side is offering a draw. When I thought I won the game, the result actually says I lost and the clock was completely different from what it was supposed to end with.....wtf! lost a game when I actually won it!
