The most decisive "proof" came when Short asked his opponent if he knew of Armando Acevedo, an obscure Mexican player.
The immediate reply was: "Siegen 1970." Fischer had played Acevedo at the Siegen Chess Olympiad in 1970.
"The guy was obviously trying to tell me something," Short told the paper.

What engine at the time was that strong? It couldn't have been a supercomputer, so what could it have been?
I don't think Fischer, being the paranoid that he was, would venture online....
I read that as well. I don't remember the question Short asked the player that made him certain it was Fischer, but I remember thinking plenty of people could've answered it. But Fischer died in 2008, years after internet chess was established, surely he must've at least tried playing online.

Ok, this is ridiculous! I watched game seven of this series. The supposed Fischer plays Whites pieces, opens f4 and follows e4- Qe2-Qf3-Qf2-Qg2 fianchettoing the Queen. I am starting to believe that neither Nihel Short ever participated in this show! Someone shorted a nice video and through it to Yourube to have some fun!

I did, but I don't remember Kasparov playing chess like a smack. Perhaps Fischer invented 960 but he never said move your Queen in the opening four times and then fianchetto your Queen on g2. Fischer in he's career had a very narrow opening repertoire and he trusted he's preparation.
Kasparov quited chess in 2004 and last year played blitz in St.Luis depended on he's preparation in the early 90's! on the Scotch opening!
Chess players like Kasparov and Fischer play chess mostly to win!! They can't play random chess even for fun.

Short got murdered in that one. And that with Kasparov being retired for 10 years and Short being an active top 100 player back then.

what engine constantly plays the bongcloud??
bobby fischer said he hated theroy, and said theirs a much easier way.
i believe bobby fischer had a vast knowledge of fortresses, and figured out the bongcloud..
the bongcloud takes away from opening theroy, thats why its only a theroy.
those games have fischers signatures all over them.
unless dvoretsky took acid, and had creative thoughts of hyperawareness..!

one of fischers signatures is the "hook and ladder trick " and he used them in those games .
bobby fischer vs arthur bisguier 1959 the hook and ladder trick was used.
thats 1 example....

At the time, 2000-2001 were there engines available to the public that could crush Nigel like that? Or was it really Bobby?
