No improvement

Hi everyone,

I had been playing in chess.com Standard time control with 30 min each from January.  My  best rating has been 1946 in the standard and 1550 in the Blitz formats in this website and for the past 2  months it has been in and around 1750s.

 This is how I practise everyday. I have stopped playing Blitz and play with 30 min each time control only and stopped changing openings and have stick to single opening reportoire. 1 from White and 2 from black. 1 for e4 and 1 for d4,c4,Nf3 openings. I practice 5 to 10 tactics problems everyday and after every match go through the variation I have played in the MCO14 book.

I am not seeing any improvement even though I am playing every game seriously and analyzing it myself and posting it in the forums for further  analysis along with my thought processes.    Can someone  please tell me why I am not improving and how to come out of this plateau. I am very serious about improving and it would be very helpful.

Have you been watching master games? It helps a lot.

@Charetter115

Thanks.I usually go through games of Hikaru Nakamura, Carlsen and Vishwanathan Anand but not with actual board piece and all just I go through it quickly in computer only. Sometimes when annotations are not provided it is  very difficult to comprehend some moves and many of the times they will not be playing lines that I play and it makes it even tougher as I won't be familiar with the ideas behind those lines. Suggestions?

Someone please suggest something.

You're "quite a bit" stronger (hehehe! Wink) than me so I hope you won't mind me giving you advice...

Perhaps it would be better to look over the games of players about 200 points  stronger than you are. They are probably using (some) ideas that you either haven't come across yet or, at least, don't understand as well as they do. These ideas should be easier to absorb than the ones in the games of Nakamura et al. Smile

You're not playing enough. It's very simple really. Play more.
