What does the number next to a player's picture mean during a game?

It's their rating.

Ratings go up for a win, down for a loss. Beating a higher rated player gives more points than beating a lower rated player, etc.

Drawing a player of equal rating results in no rating change.

Your first few games have a multiplier, so at first your rating will change a lot, 100s of points for a single game, but each game after that you'll gain and lose less until you're gaining and losing a normal amount (roughly 10 points for a win vs a player rated the same as you).

How can you not know this? I don't believe you.

This, and some people make their account, then don't log in for years. This guy may be new even if the account is not.

1. You've been registered since 2009 where you did lots of tactics
2. You had no intention and no history practicing your knowledge in long 8 years
3. You pretend to not knowing the most important things
4. You have a diamond member without really using it, except 8 years before. Normal people are either rich and not caring a running subscription or they would cancel this or they get it for free due to business relationships
5. If you follow the Terms of Service then this account could be a secondary account of a titled player but even then asking people about a number is like fooling the people
6. You've got 21 followers without much activity, Respect!

So whatever one is looking at this suspicious question, it always turns out:

You are a troll! And without caring a subcription even more suspicious, things not to mention more into detail.
