Centurions,
The enemies of Rome are many and powerful, therefore the Emperor has decreed the 13th legion be expanded. Tell your neighbors to lay down their plowshares and retrieve their gladius. If you know a friend that has stuck with you threw the trials of Pluto give us their name. We are looking for centurions that will march across Chess.Com for the Empire!

Centurions! With the start of the New Year brings us back around to the start of Festival season! This is our most honored festival..... The Throne of Jupiter is there for the taking! All you need to do is sign up here. Then you will be able to challenge your fellow centurion for the right to sit on Jupiter’s Throne. If you win you take over that person's spot if you lose stay where you are. Everyone can lose up to 5 matches before you are out of this event. In July the centurion that is in the number one spot will be the winner.
1. Players will be added to the bottom of the quest, when they join the competition.
2. Players can only challenge the person 1 or 2 spots above them on the quest.
3. Players must issue their challenge in this forum. Then send a nice message to the person they are challenging, informing them of the challenge. Then create a game.
4. The rules of the game are:
A.)The match title should be : The Throne of Jupiter
B.) Standard Chess Random Color.
C.) Three days per move
D.) You may only lose 5 matches than you will be removed from the quest.
E.) These conditions may be changed if both players agree, but remember you are only allowed to play one quest game at a time.
5. The winner of the game must report the result in this forum. If the lower player on the quest wins, the 2 player’s places on the ladder will be switched. If the higher player wins, positions will remain unchanged. If the game is drawn, positions will remain unchanged. Result of the game must be posted, in this forum within 3 days of the games conclusion, or the game will not count.
6. All communications must be friendly and cordial. No taunting,gloating,or foul language. Anyone breaking this rule will be removed from the quest.
I will place one of three notation next to a person’s name:
1 Active-This person is available to play.
2. Playing-This person cannot play until their current game is completed, but cannot be skipped over.
3. Inactive-This person is unavailable to play at the current time, and may be skipped over. This player is subject to removal if inactive status persists for too long,somthing like 6 months, I will discuss the situation with the player and they may be removed.

Dear fellow centurions,
We need group leaders for our vote chess matches As you may know, our strategy in vote chess is discipline. We don't just enter the move we think best and click "submit", we discuss it before doing anything. This is what will make us strong. A good team is more than just the sum of its members. But we need someone to lead it.
You don't have to be the best chess player in the world or even in the team, as moves are still decided and discussed by all. But it will be your job to have a look at the discussion and give a final call based on it. In most cases this is an easy task as consensus will be reached pretty soon, but some moves will hopefully be discussed passionately. The final decision will be yours then. If you feel you can do it, please step forward. Thank you!

Talfan, after such a long occupation how do you know celts aren't part ROMAN?
I've played chess here for over two years and have been a member of several chess teams, but the overall best team I have been a member of is The 13th Legion and let me quickly tell you why.

First of all, every great team requires a great leader and The 13th Legion has got that hands down. Not to brag on myself, because I am an admin, but this team is very quick to respond to any questions or concerns any member may have, Thats saying alot because we have around 500 members
500 members? that's nothing right? Wrong. Our modestly sized team has worked their way up through the ranks to be in the top 130 of teams here. That's because we have active members and we play to win
Our admins work hard to make sure we all have an ample supply of matches to join. I never get bored, so I don't need 10 other teams to fill my time.
Also, there is a very fun atmostsphere. The matches are all Roman themed. There is a little role play in the matches you will see our leaders doing. It's funny and it keeps things interesting
Finally, we have a friendly enviroment and team tournaments and events. We have an event running now that is like a ladder match. We also play vote chess games. This brings the team together when we all interact with each other and creates a stronger team.
We don't just accept anyone into our legion, but if any of this sounds interesting and fun to you, send us an application and we'll see if you qualify. We are actively recruiting new members to help us in our team matches and epic battles with our rivals across chess.com
