Opinions on the Lasker Trap?

I recently learned a new trap called The Lasker Trap. I heard it's very rare and people have mixed feelings about it. Is it a good and effective trap, or would it be better if I studied a different trap instead?

A new trap called the Lasker Trap?

Are you aware Lasker was world champion over 100 years ago?

They're a vanishing breed.

The Lasker trap is rare because the Albin Counter-Gambit is rare. The basic idea embodied by the trap is useful to know, however, and might be applied in other situations.

In my opinion the efficiency of a trap depends upon two things.

1. How logical are the moves by the opponent leading up to the trap. A trap which involves a wild set up move by you is less likely to work since the opponent might smell that something is up. If the opponent's moves are logical leading upto the trap then it's a good trap.

2. If the opponent doesn't fall for the trap then how good is your position going to be.

Let's look at point 1. The lasker trap starts with white playing e3 basically which makes sense to play as white because if dxe3 Qxd8+ Kxd8 Bxe3 and white looks fine so there is a decent chance of a person who isn't familiar with the trap might play e3 at some point.

Point 2 is also a positive. Even if white doesn't play the trap line and plays Nf3 then black looks to be fine.

So lasker trap in my opinion is worth to study, it looks good.  This is just my opinion.

Yes but u don't have to rely upon white to play the line. You can start studying Albin countergambit since it's black who decides whether to play it or not and then there is a higher chance of someone falling into that trap. Some traps work only if the opponent plays an opening variation which sucks

The problem is that the Albin is basically trash if White plays correctly.

+0.75 is already very close to a winning advantage... on move four!
