Opponent is losing, keeps putting me in CHECK

I'm clearly going to win, but my opponent keeps putting me in check over a pawn. In yahoo chess his moves would cause a stalemate. Why does chess.com allow this to happen? What can I do to stop him from moving the same peice to the same 2 places OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN?! My opponent is ranked much higher than I am. I suspect most of his wins come from his opponents being bored to death, and resigning. He is clearly a poor chess player. What can I do?!

At my level "there is no such thing as a clear win"? You haven't seen the game, and you don't even play 960, so.... I'm trying not to be rude.

If it has happened 3 times or more - in the same position - press 'Offer a draw' and it will declare a draw by repetition.

Thanks Heather. Your advise is much better than the other guy's.

I don't think you are referring to stalemate. That is treated the same on all sites as it is a clear draw in the rules of chess. I have played on dozens of sites and they all recognize stalemate and award the draw.

Perhaps you are actually talking about the three-fold repetition draw, or the 50 move rule draw, or even insufficient losing chances (all with very different defitintions) but you are not talking about stalemate.

As long as your opponent has a legal move left on the board with any piece or pawn, then it is not stalemate.

you must find the move where you cannot be checked if such a move doesn't exist then you will draw unless they stop checking you , be patient understand the opponent is also doing their best to not lose which is only fair isn't it

after the match you may want to look at analysing your game to see how you allowed repetitive checks , to avoid that happening in a similar position again

i guess he is trying to get a perpetual (keep on trying to check) to get a draw

and can you also paste the link to your game so i know what you are exactly talking about

ANOK1

one last thing , stay calm do not get flustered as it would ruin or interrupt your thinking , you have done well to be so close to winning v a higher graded player , do not lose because they have broken your focus and made you angry by fighting back

The game with piteraq should be an easy win for you if you're talking about it. Just think a little

some players here have no class and most of the time are the ones that never improve, which I found somewhat comforting. It is a toxic feeling, but I am human too and having someone keep playing a totally lost game, because he hopes u might lose connection, or have a heart attack and blunder, it's super cheap imo

it is also funny when they ask for draw when u promote a pawn to queen and they have a king only. I mean what is the point in that? I usually decline and say to them that I want to prac checkmating with the queen. then, they always quit.

You should know how to win a won game before declaring it won...

For a game to be won you must prove you can win it by making the right moves !

Amazing thread/game combo.

Comment faire nulle

I’d kick the guy in the balls.

If your opponent can keep you in check, they are not losing.
