Opponents Resigning

I have won a number of games recently

where my opponent (normally higher

ranking) unexpectedly resigned.

Any ideas why? Is it some way of fiddling

the rankings?

If your opponent resigns, you've won! So what are you complaining about?

Seriously though, the rankings on this site don't always give a correct idea of how strong that player is. I myself have a rating of 1600+ but I've just been lucky, my real rating is around 1250-1300.

Good point. Some of the games where my opponent was obviously winning suddently resigned.

I think it may be because they have something to do (maybe a party) and they have to leave so they resigned.
