Would it make sense to place a maximum time on any move?
For example, the main time in chess is standard 90 minutes for 40 moves - 2,25 minutes per move. Afterwards 30 minutes plus 0,5 minute increment for each move.
So if a player makes 39 moves in 39 minutes, he´s free to make no move for the remaining 51 minutes - "think" the 40th move even if he´s losing and has no good move to think of.
Would it make sense if there were a time maximum for every single move so that, e. g. after 10 minutes a player must move or lose on time, even if he has 51 minutes saved up overall and thus 41 minutes of main time remaining?
I haven't been on here in a while but it seems like there's still a lot of hate against players that run out the clock. It could be for any reason but most likely they lost and refuse to resign. This can hold up tournaments and/or impact the site as a whole negatively as it seems like many players can't lose with grace.
Can the devs institute some policy that players that let their clock run out (24+ hours) earn a yellow then red card warning similar to soccer so that they'll be automatically removed from the tournament. This should apply for the duration of the tournament.
I also feel players that lose on time should get a vacation penalty based on the duration of the game or some other weighted formula so a 20+ move game should carry a bigger penalty than a 1 move game that was essentially started and ignored for some stupid reason.
