People that leave instead of resigning.

They're so annoying. I get it, you suck and you're too embarrased to click resign.

That 5 minute wait time is too long I feel like.  I'd have to NOT play chess while they're offline because I'm never sure if they'll sneakily comeback, make a move, and make my timer go down.

I stopped playing 20minutes+ games because of that. Chess.com staff should do something about that, lol.

What can they do?

It is impossible to determine if a person left on purpose or his internet just simply dropped.

Actually, chess.com already gives a warning or a notice to that person, and I think he/she gets banned after doing that several times.

yes really annoying. I would like to see a maximum thinking time. Some would argue that you have the right to manage your own full time constraint but my experience is that if you do not make a move within 2 minutes you have really little chance to win later as your opponent had also the time to think and he is probably thinking faster than you.

How about a max time time per move for longer games? Maybe 20-50% of the total time?

Apart from an important reason (a lot of lost games due to lost internet connection) this played an important role in not playing fast games anymore. Would be polite to resign in a lost position and not wasting my time but no, rather making me wait and sustain my alertness since you can never know what does the opponent do. Always assume the best (he may lost the connection and coming back) but happened that someone was sneaking back after 15 minutes. 

The solution is to play 3min games ...if you can't wait 3 min in a chess game you may want to try some zen and learn patience even if your one move from a win and they d/c on purpose

Chess is about patience ...used to play email chess...one move every week or month...had a friend that played by mail ... On move every few months or so....be patient even in the world of instant messages and information

When some waits or disconnects on purpose I usually look bak at game and see where I succeeded and where they failed...good time to reflect ...I've even seen alternative moves and patterns I missed...and my opponents...don't get upset and gripe over something that us common in chess.com ...that can't be controlled

2 minutes is far too short, when I play 30 minute games I often spend over 2 minutes on a move. 10 minutes should be maximum. They do get punished for it eventually as they get pooled with other people who do the same. I just find it funny when somebody disconnects - if they are throwing their toys out the pram after losing then I must be doing something right...

It's funny because in my game with scofa, scofa disconnected.

Why all the moaning when people leave. Either way there's points coming your way. You not got emails to check or a brew to make for those minutes of countdown?

I have NEVER disconnected in a game, not even by accident bc i have an exellent connection. You must be confusing me with someone like you. You're just saying bullcrap.

you seem like a whiny person - yea it happens to me too, but its in their right, its not illegal - just be happy to get the win, it happens to me in 30 min games and i just watch tv for a while

point being that i try not to let other peoples actions anger me - if they have a 5-30 minute clock, then they can use it all they want and i shouldn't play if i am not willing to wait it out

Meh. Just open a new window and check the other game every 1-3 mins. That's better if you're trying to push rank.
