Petition against the clash of clans update

This is an insult to the game of chess chess is not a game about power ups it’s a game of logical thinking. This is a pathetic attempt from chess.com to attract people from clash of clans to join chess.com and therefore have more people that can advertise their diamond membership too. I bet half of these new accounts will be closed or abandoned within the first week. Chess.com should instead focus on working towards improving the site. If you agree with what I have said list your name here and keep this topic at the top of the list as long as possible to make it clear to chess.com that we don’t want these events we want an improved chess site. Report me if you want it will only make moderators notice this page.

I think it's an attempt to draw more novice players to the game. I attempted the SpellChess variant and the newly designed pieces were a bit distracting, and the green on light green checkerboard is incredibly terrible. Also the game itself of jumping pieces and freezing is not all that skillful. I decided to watch some better players with a spell rating of 2000+ play and the trick is to get the king on the run and sac everything, much like the CrazyHorse variant.

Chess 960 is a good change from regular chess and retains a lot of the skill required to play. These variants and others may attract a ton of new players but only a small fraction will be lasting players that stick with the game. I agree that it seems like a wasted effort to create silly products of chess when this site still has tons of server issues and other errors after years of upgrades.

I don't know, I think this will only help chess become more popular, which isn't a bad thing, is it? I would like if more people showed up to my local chess club, and to see more people playing chess. I don't see anything horribly wrong with what they're doing.

I also want to see chess grow but I also don’t want it turned into some mobile game. I think chess.com could easily come up with a better way to attract new players but they probably wouldn’t make as much money from it as a deal with clash of clans would

Generally I think the idea was to invent new, silly, different chess games in order to engage newcomers to try something new. Fancy game syndrome.

Sadly these variants do little to develop actual good chess skills. Spells?

And so once the newcomers get bored after constantly losing to people with just a hint of skill, they quit and never return.

A variant such are 4 rooks no queen vs 2 queens would be better as it actually teaches coordination of the pieces. Jumping and freezing spells are just terrible, it's not even fun to watch better players play.

Although I think the growth of chess is a good thing I agree that I don’t want people who clearly don’t take chess seriously clogging up this site

People play chess separately and clashofclans separately. This is just a temporary collab. And chess.com is not the official chess body or something. Let the site do what it wants, it's not gonna affect your chess game.

I think Its not a bad thing it's just to atract people and it's fun, clash royale it's a strategy game to, but like a fantasy game doesn't fits well, I liked the uprade because it's fun, I'm supporting both

i think its just fun with these formats and botd but you could release formats and bots withour silly events do im both with and not with you
