Open it with notepad or just change the filetype to txt with rename.
PGN File Problem
The method you suggest seems familiar to me and I will check it out. I don't have much hope though, since the file already has ChessBase formatting.
The file has the ChessBase logo already in place. Apparently, as soon as a PGN file appears, ChessBase picks it up.
I am new to ChessBase and I did check to see if there was some way to convert back to PGN, but no luck. I contacted ChessBase Tech Support.
No need to clog up this Forum, I posted in the Help and Support Forum. Any suggestions can be sent there or send me a message.

I assume you tried to open the pgn file? When you installed Chessbase, it probably associated itself with pgn files. That is, when you go to open a pgn file, Windows just assumes you want to open it with Chessbase. You can go into your Windows control panel (something like Programs, Default programs, etc.) and change the file association for pgn files to some other application, for example Notepad or Wordpad, etc.
I had a PGN file generated on chess.com and it was mailed to me.
I downloaded it to my desktop, hoping to copy and email to someone. However, I have ChessBase installed on my computer and the PGN file automatically gets loaded into ChessBase.
How do i get a PGN file in a format I can copy and mail as a Word file?
