greetings great ones, a thousands salaam's to you, this humble peasant farmer needs a pgn viewer for his website build and so far he is having difficulty obtaining a pleasing one.  I heard that ICC has one but I cannot get it to work on my system, the question therefore  is,

1. does anyone know how to export html code from a game within chessbase 11

2, failing that does anyone know of a decent (aesthetically pleasing) pgn viewer that I can embed in a website

3. failing that will some code monkey write me one and give it to me for free

thanks for your continued patience - kind regards Robbie.

2)

I have two different pgn viewers on my website, that I use for my tournament games.

1) http://www.edcollins.com/chess/view/collins.htm
2) http://www.edcollins.com/chess/viewer/collins.htm

(Actually, I almost never ever use these two pgn viewers.   But just in case I'm ever out on the road somewhere, and want to see my games, they are available for me here.)

When I looked at the first link just now, I saw some java warning message.  I've never seen that before.  If that happens to you, just click accept the risk.  It's probably because this is old code.

I had fun experimenting with these two viewers, and installing them, but this was years and years ago.  Until I read your post, I had almost forgotten I had them.  But you might find them helpful.

RoobieRoo

great one, thank you for your post, the chesstempo one looks aesthetically more pleasing, where can i get the code and can you modify it to have annotations??

MrEdCollins

The code and user guide looks like it can be found on this page of their website.

And yes, I'm sure you include annotations.  In fact, the example diagram on the above pages shows some annotations.

RoobieRoo

thankyou kind sir,

MrEdCollins

Ah, that link is for the beta version.

Here's a link for the nonbeta version:

Ed can you provide the simple syntax for entering a pgn on a web page( i use wordpress for my site and have istalled the pgnviewer plugin)

it must be something like [pgn].. mypgn...[/pgn]

but i cannot find it anywhere and neither the author nor chesstempo has provided any detils as far as i can discern.

MrEdCollins

I'm not sure how much help I can provide.  It's been years and years since I read those chess tempo help files, and set everything up on my website.

My html source for that page is available, of course, simply by viewing it.  And here's the list of the files that are on my server.

RoobieRoo

hmmm, ok Ed, many thanks, ill reread chesstempo 'help', again, surely the pgnveiwer plugin for wordpress means that its easier than entering the code all the time, thanks sir, thanks so much.

RoobieRoo

yes, it is indeed, how was it done. Do tell.

mathisfun1

First you have to make the game that you want to show on chess.com(In a message or a forum) and then you hit share. then you copy the code into the webpage html(I think).

RoobieRoo

ok, but thats for chess.com, i have my own domain.

mathisfun1

I think you have to put the code into the webpage html.

RoobieRoo

yes, its true, its ok, i have found a site that generates code from a pgn and simply lets you copy and paste the code, many thanks and long live open source!

rooperi
