Pictures of Bobby Fischer
Post #8 is just one of the most badass photos of a human being I have ever seen. A genius in the throes of creation. A portrait of pure intellect, in their physical prime. I wish I had a photo like that of me.

That's a great photo, I wouldn't mind that hanging in my house somewhere, but I personally prefer the ones of him during gameplay like the one on wikipedia, rather than him posing.
Very nice photos... the misunderstood genius! I believe he could match play with anyone... even the hot shot computer taught crackers of today! They might get him in the first game but watch out after that. Pasadena Main Library 1978... read Isaac Kazhdan's Chess Column in the LA Times and read books while playing along on his pocket set. I saw him there several times. He said he quit playing chess but do you really believe that? He has now but his games are fun to replay. I just follow along trying to get the next move correct or pick a better one.

Bobby Fischer 1972, bring him then, in his prime, to right now and sit him down in 2017 Manhatten. Give him 3 years. Chessbase, Fritz with all the engines, every Chessbase magazine, Chess365 and all the opening databases, all the books from the 1970s onward, Internet with all the Youtube and countless resources, let him catch up on everything, all the new opening theory and tricks, and then set him loose...and yes I think he'd whip any human alive. Let Fisher study all of Magnus's games for a solid year, and the Karjakin 2016 WC match, and I think Fischer and Magnus would be tight, but Fischer would get him. Magnus seemed invincible because of that 2880 rating, but Sergey Karjakin showed us he was not.

Genius, yes, but i'm not so sure about the "misunderstood" part...at least not in reference to many of the things he said over the years, especially during the latter part of his life.
He espoused some pretty awful, hateful, crazy ideas, leaving very little room for ambiguity.

Photos in #12 and #14 were taken at Jack Collin's home.
Photo in #1 was taken in Oct. 1955; Fischer was living at 560 Lincoln Place, Brooklyn; the catcher's name is Johnny Cohen.
Photo in #3 in Bobby, Joan and her daughter Elizabeth.
Photo in #6 is, of course, Tal; it was taken in Zurich 1959.

We all say and think awful and disturbing stuff during our lives... but most people don't have a microphone in front of them. All come short of being perfect. That is the human condition and it will never change.
Hi Everyone,
DrFrank124c suggested that I post some pictures of Bobby.

I collect old chess pictures and have found my share of BF ones.
Please comment and more pictures to this thread.
I hope you enjoy them.
