Platinum vs diamond membership - which is best for me?

So I've decided that it's time to finally make the leap and purchase membership! There are 2 options that I'm considering:

Option 1: platinum membership (costs $71 for the year)

Option 2: diamond membership (costs $142 for the year)

My ultimate goal is to reach 2000 blitz rating within 12 months - I'm currently 1700 rating. People have told me that I should be focusing primarily on tactics and puzzle rush; platinum is sufficient for this, as it gives you unlimited attempts at both.

As far as I see, there are 3 differences between diamond and platinum:

1) Diamond gives unlimited lessons instead of 10 per day - do you think I would be covering more than 10 lessons per day?

2) Diamond gives video lessons - do you think that these are helpful, and how do they compare to regular lessons?

3) Diamond gives a deeper computer analysis - do you think that this is necessary for my games?

Please give me an honest opinion about whether you think diamond is worth it for someone of my level (currently 1700 rating), or whether you think I'm better off with just platinum for now?

I think you don‘t need 1) and 3) (my opinion). For 2) I can‘t say. Personally, I‘d go for 2 years of platinum instead of 1 year diamond if I had to choose

Anyone else have an opinion on this before I make a decision?

If you think that you have mastered most of the lessons and you have a strong enough engine for deeper analysis the only reason why you get diamond will be for the videos

Thanks for the advice everyone. So I ended up getting platinum membership! I dream of one day getting the CM title so I can have free diamond membership, but that will take me years, if it ever happens lol. So platinum it is for now.

Actually I just changed my mind and upgraded to diamond lol. I did it purely for the video lessons, especially since they updated them a few days ago and now there's a whole bunch more that all require diamond membership to use. So more incentive to go diamond instead of platinum.

I'm really hoping that I don't get charged twice for this. We'll see.

Yo @Deranged, congrats on hitting 2000 Blitz rating! How is it going with the plan made 2 years ago, when you wanted to get a CM title?

I second this, how you doing @Deranged ?

looks like deranged stuck with platinum good on ‘em

diamond works well if lessons material and difficulty is applicable

a class a or higher probably doesnt want
diamond unless price was not a factor

The lessons are very useful. Also, im pretty sure it is 10 lessons per week with platinum. Also, I think the high depth in analysis is useful. Do diamond.

There are unlimited lessons on diamond and puzzles it also gives you access to save your games and analyze, so I think that diamond is very useful.

Just don't repeat the memberships too much.

cough cough cough, this is obvious FAKE and when was your account made? Probably just another catfisher? Ya, I guess so. Chess.com WILL REFUND if your friend asked.

And yeah, diamond doesn't cost 500 dollars.

Thank you! It took me a little longer than I originally planned (22 months instead of 12 months), although that's partly because I took several months break from chess.

I went diamond membership for 1 year, but now I'm back to platinum membership. I didn't think I got much out of the videos or lessons, but I definitely got a lot out of having unlimited puzzles, game analysis and opening explorer. So platinum suits my purposes better.

I'm still aiming to become a CM one day. I expect it to take me several years though, if I'm lucky enough to ever get there.

I think if you are actually putting time into the site, diamond is probably the best. But, if you don't really use the lessons, I guess platinum would be the better choice.

Well each to their own, but for me personally, I didn't find the videos on Chess.com to be very high quality. Most of the speakers had heavy accents which I couldn't understand.

I found the videos on YouTube to be much higher quality and easier to digest. For example: IM John Bartholomew and GM Daniel Naroditsky both taught me a lot, and their videos are free to watch on YouTube.

Platinum is best

Coz its low of cost and they both r similar

Only downside to gold membership is you might want to solve more than 25 puzzles in a day, or attempt puzzle rush more than 5 times in a day.

Given that Gold membership is around $40 AUD per year and platinum is around $65 AUD per year, I think it's worth paying that little bit extra for platinum.

I'll definitely check them out, I haven't really looked at chess on youtube all that much.
