Why play 10|0 if your not ready to play for a whole 20min.

Daft21

there is stalling by definition and it's against the fair play therms of chess.com

Daft21

no i meant guidlines. mixed something up. how many languages do you speak besides english?

It is your duty to play an honorable game. But what do these stallers know about duty and honor? They're just trying to finesse a win off of you.

Half of the post contributors understand nothing and didnt even read my OP just trolling answers.

All i ask for is more severe punishment like a month ban or so. obviously i also get that the closure of an account would be a bit too harsh because of stalling

......

If they got banned for a month, do you think they'd just sit there or do you think they'd make a new account?

Trolls are often fake new accounts anyway, which is exactly why when you say report them, it's practically useless. It'll take months for them to actually get banned, after which they can just make a new account.

Stalling needs to be prevented, rather than allowing people to do it and then trying to catch them, which as mentioned before is useless anyway even if you catch them.

It's not stalling. It's just sucking at chess and being too OCD to quickly decide on the best move. Not everybody is as good at chess as you are. Give us our alloted time and stop complaining about it.

Clearly you don't even know the difference between "stalling" and "taking long time for moves". Go and read and understand first before trying to act smart.

and why did this topic come alive after a year and a half??

Stalling

This unsportsmanlike behavior is a tactic some players use when they realize they cannot win, often to frustrate or annoy their opponent. Stalling can take several forms, including:

Letting the clock run out: Instead of resigning, the player simply allows the time to expire without making any moves.

Taking excessively long between moves: The player deliberately takes a very long time between moves, effectively dragging the game out with unnecessary or pointless moves.

Some players may even send taunting messages in the chat, such as "haha, have fun waiting," to further frustrate their opponent.

My very first online game in about 1998 it was a 15min each game...we arrived at a position where I had mate in 2...he let his clock run down 10minutes to zero...I was surprised and a little frustrated but it was really a taste of things to come in my online chess playing in a big way!

When I played on ICC there was an option to disable the auto flag drop and let the clock go into minus figures...this is what I used to do to punish stallers and I would go off and browse or read the news....

Sorry for the attack. I also complimented you.

I actually don’t care about staling…

I have a problem of opponents playing too fast. Look at my games. These beginners are premoving every single move and I always lose a bunch of rating, leading to temporary bans for “sandbagging” which I didn’t.

So stalling is just basically ghosting your opponent?

Stalling for me is refusing to resign and letting your clock run down to zero....this is my definition....stalling the inevitable loss
