Hi. Just taught my 6 year old grandson to play chess. We live about six hours away. Any suggestions how I can continue playing with him online? Thanks. I am a newbie so forgive my ignorance. Paul

Try getting Zoom for communication . . .

Thx. Is there an app that we can use to play one another or is that possible in chess.com?

In chess.com there is an option called ‘friends’. Find it and invite your grandson to become your chesscom friend. As soon as he accepts your invitation you can play together.

If you cannot find it or if it doesn’t work post here again then we can help you find the right buttons to click.

(And if so please tell us if you are using the chesscom website or the app. They work slightly different).

Thanks for all your help, we've had quite a few games.  Is there a setting where I can allow him to take a move back?  While we're at it.  What is the view on letting a beginner win.  So far, I haven't been doing so as I think he may learn quicker if I don't pull any punches but I am not sure if that is the correct approach.  Thank you

Unrted mode in Daily chess has a take back option that get be defined when setting up the challenge.

That's not possible in Live. As for letting someone win, if you're doing it for training purposes, it should also be done unrated.

I do loose on purpose with my kids OTB but only if the ask me to. Another thing that works (but not online) is that they are allowed to switch sides any time they want.

We don’t do take backs. I think training not to blunder pieces is thé most important skill for under 1000 players. And taking pieces that have been blundered.

First time in history of chess.com that @martin_stahl accidentally typed something wrong?
