I had the same problem; I would just play blitz game after blitz game and feel miserable at the end. Then I tried a long game. Even though I lost the game, I felt satisfied with the game because I was able to learn from it.
Playing crappier Chess when tired? But can't stop playing...

It can feel very unsatisfactory to quit after losing. There's the siren song of a new game and a fresh start. And, sometimes you can play on and end on a high note. Normally though, you just get increasingly frustrated because you can't seem to summon your usual strength. At this point, I prefer to walk away, and fight tomorrow. This is just a matter of taste.
Of course, if you're playing for money, then stop IMMEDIATELY.

Hahah good advice y'all. Though I feel the point of this topic was fairly missed here. What I mean is, have you guys ever played Chess while fatigued (from work, sex etc.) and found yourself playing Chess a lot worse than you'd usually play?! I mean, there are days where I play and feel invincible. Yet whenever I am tired and bored I find myself playing Chess. Sometimes Blitz or long games. But calculating ability seems to go down quite a bit when fatigued -- slower. I just wanted to see if some of yoy had this same or similar experience.

Just online chess right? So, if you lose enough games, then you get matched with weaker opponents... and eventually you'll start winning again!
Here's a recent game, I was on a losing streak (25 consecutive loses); Finally, the computer pitied me and gave me this game:
You guys ever have this problem where you start playing Chess, while kinda tired or sleepy and your Chess playing is just a lot crappier? Yet, you just can't stop playing despite having a losing streak?! Chess is like crack... You can't stop even if it's not going well.

I play worse than usual when tired for sure, and also when I'm "on tilt" because I lost a game due to a very stupid blunder or my server goes down after a tough fight right at the point where I see the wining moves at the end. Once I lose a game like that, I just can't get over it easy but still want to play more and lose.

I get bent when I get on a losing streak. I have actually fallen asleep at the computer playing chess before. Life was... different ... then (I had a stroke victim in the house I was taking care of & she ate up a lot of quality sleep). I shouldn't have been playing when I was that tired. Aside from that incident, I never play well when I'm tired. I went to a USCF tournament and lost all 4 games I played and I attribute the loss to blunders and exhaustion b/c I had only had about 4 hours sleep the night before.
It's definitely bad when you're tired. But if you go on tilt and keep chasing your rating you'll end up like I have in the past few days - losing a ton of points.
But oh well. Chess is still fun. 8) It keeps the brain moving. And there's NOTHING like pulling your hair out for 2 hours to finally beat someone.

Its so difficult to find time when I'm fresh and sharp to play. I play after work and that seems a mistake. If I go to bed and play in the morning I do better. Sometimes well enough to be inspired to pursue it counting up to 10 or 11 ply ahead. It seems that a tired brain loses incentive, ambition, desire to win, and just apathy. Then, im frustrated. Lol We are egomaniac and cannot accept bad play. Its so similar to alcoholism I can attest!!!!

Sounds familiar to me. 😬
The temptation to avoid what you are certain is an inevitable tilt can be overwhelming.

Word by word, exactly. And also I agree for me a long chess say 30 minutes is Real Chess. Blitz.. just and addiction but yeah when tired sleepy.. u just lose

A can definitely relate. As my byline currently says, "I have a bad habit of playing when very tired..."
I'm usually pretty good about not playing actual matches when I'm completely wiped out, but my curse is the desire to continue playing rated puzzles. Sometimes I find myself playing compulsively, and it's just a nightmare. My puzzle rating is nothing fancy - I've only made it into the low 2100s ... so I tend to wander in and out of the 2000s. It feels ... embarrassing when I dip below 2000, and I want to at least get back up in there. But sometimes I play so tired that I plummet as much as a hundred points before clambering back up.
Discipline, discipline. If only I had more! LOL
