Pre-covid and Post Covid positive blitz rating

I am a physician and have noticed that the majority of people who have had COVID report some level of cognitive decline. This would be a very illuminating study to actually compare real pre- and post-COVID chess scores!

I had Covid sometime around the start of it all. And since then, my rating actually improved. I attribute this to more time practicing and studying during the lockdown period.

Good thing that we chess players are super smart already.
Artists, businessmen etc can also think they are super smart but it is not usually true in reality.

We already have chess.com forums to do that job of decreasing IQ points. No need for Covid's assistance.

But of course this only applies to blitz, right? Bullet just requires a quick index finger.
(*ducks behind a bush*)

Only being able to discuss COVID in the moderated thread will cause a loss in IQ points.
Any IQ loss comes from reading the crackpots and science deniers.

But of course this only applies to blitz, right? Bullet just requires a quick index finger.

Bullet requires absolutely no ability at chess.
its funny how bullet ratings are almost always the same as blitz ratings. strength is strength.

I haven't been vaccinated and I've no intention of doing so. It's completely pointless in the long to medium term: as if we're going to be dependent all our lives on vaccines for everything, instead of being fit and healthy enough to stand a better chance of fighting new diseases than if we take vaccines, which are most useful for more deadly diseases.
I had Covid early in the first wave, before it was treatable; and the after effects (long Covid) lasted for 4 months. My Blitz rating crashed from about 1850 to about 1400 and is now building back up. Part of that was definitely due to the removal of 10 mins no increment from Blitz, which was incorrect, because 10 mins has always been regarded as Blitz, meaning I had to learn to play at five minutes and not to think. It was also possibly due to the many new players, who caused the 1400 - 1500 band to seem stronger than the 1500 - 1700 band for a time; but that's no longer the case, because it's evened out. My Daily rating also declined but is now higher than it was. In the long term, I haven't lost any IQ points, other than due to the normal, slow decline that comes with aging. I did feel that I'd lost some mental ability, temporarily.
Uhm, the beginning of your first paragraph and the end of your first paragraph are completely contradictary!
COVID-19 is a deadly virus. If vaccines are meant for deadly viruses, then you should be taking the COVID-19 vaccine!
What needs to happen is they need to start approving it for kids 5 to 11, and make it a mandatory vaccine for both schools and the work place. You have to get other vaccines to attend school, like measels, mumps, etc.
COVID-19 is not the common cold. There is no vaccine for the common cold. Why? Because the common cold is not deadly. Sure you don't feel well. Yeah it sucks. But you'll live. It's not like the flu or H1N1 or COVID-19.
Also, post-COVID effects last a lot more than 4 months. In fact, they have already determined that there are post-COVID negative effects even beyond the first wave of symptoms. In as little as 6 months (and in other cases longer, meaning it could likely also happen decades later, we'll find out), many people have had heart trouble following COVID-19 when pre-COVID, they had ZERO reports of heart issues!
There have been many other items discovered:
1) In the long run (This virus isn't going away), everyone will get the vaccine or get the virus, and likely more than once - after 16 months, you are just as likely to get it again as you were before you ever got it if you are unvaccinated. This does not mean you cannot get it a second time in under 16 months. That's just the point when the likelihood matches that of the time before you got COVID in the first place.
2) The vaccine works like a vaccine is supposed to work. Vaccines are not magic. They do not make you completely immune. You cannot take the vaccine and then just say that you can avoid social distancing or wearing masks. I also hear people saying "eh, so what if I get it, I'll then get anti-bodies injected at the hospital". Uhm, COVID is not treatable by the "Morning After Pill". You get the vaccine for the same reason you get the flu shot. It GREATLY REDUCES the risk of getting COVID, and if you do get it, it GREATLY REDUCES the overall symptoms and the chances of you needing to go to the hospital or dying. That said, the vaccine is NOT MAGIC! It does not make the possibility of getting the virus suddenly go "PUFF!"
3) Anti-Vaxers will lose in the long run. They will get COVID and die at a much higher rate than those that vaccinate, so in the long run, Vaxers will win, so why not join them?

The funniest bit was the idea that 10 0 stopping being classified as blitz stops you from playing it.

Since lower rated players seemed to have rapid > blitz, I would guess the move of 10|0 to rapid should cause 10|0 players to gain rating. This is because some people play multiple time controls in the same rating category. For example someone may gain points playing 15|10 then offload them in a 10|0 game by playing an opponent who used to intersect with 5|0 and 3|0 players.

Vaccines don't weaken your immune system.

Article states you lose 7 IQ points post covid. We could easily measure any statistical decline from established blitz ratings with people that have had Covid. Say a few 100 blitz games post covid, to see if there is anything to this.
