Ive tried to play the Caro-Kann Botvinik-Carlsen defense to stagger it, but sometimes I find myself unable to retake the c5 pawn due to my opponents efforts to keep it.
Carlsen has a variation in the CK named after him? He doesn't play the CK.

To the OP:
Since you're a diamond member, go to the video section on this site and watch GM Shankland's video series on the Caro-Kann. They are a superb way to get an idea of how to play each variation white may try.
Just the other day I was having some issues in blitz against the two knights variation, so I loaded up his video on those sidelines and refreshed myself on where I was going wrong. I slapped my forehead when I realized I had forgot to fianchetto kingside, and then started playing the opening correctly for excellent results compared to where I was going wrong before.
Dear FirebrandX thanks for making me aware of Shankland`s video series, Ive looked at it now and its quite good:)
It makes perfect sence the way he explains it.
1.e4, c6
2.d4, d5
3.e3, Bf4
moving the bishop prior to the e6 move is very logical as the whole "locked in" problem dosent occur then.
3.c5 is named after Bottvinik - Carlsen, at least here at the opening explorer at Chess.com.
I didnt know that Magnus are avoiding it all together though. However I guess its possible that Chess.com has made an mistake.
Thanks for all input, Then I`ll continue to learn the main lines of the Caro-Kann and return to you guys if I wonder about anything:P
Kind Regards

Hi, Im currently playing a lot of Caro-Kann when facing e4 openings and Im really enjoying it thats for sure:)
It gives and entirely different game than any other defenses, but Im struggeling a bit when I find myself playing the advanced variation however.
Ive tried to play the Caro-Kann Botvinik-Carlsen defense to stagger it, but sometimes I find myself unable to retake the c5 pawn due to my opponents efforts to keep it.
is there any good advice out there to how I can coop with the advanced variation?
Its also really challenging to play it due to the hard time I have to castle kingside.
Thanks in advance for any replies I may recieve.
