Contact LisaV. She'd be glad to help.

Isn't that an Alice in Chains song?

kco

haha not a chance wouter.

So what artfizz is trying to say to me (got this from Mr-X-) is better to encourage myself to play the  TT rather than punishing myself for missing it.

What if I just savekeep it till you reach a rating. Let's say your goal is too reach 1900, and everytime you miss a day you give me 10 euro. And when you reach 1900 you get it back.

kco

ok then so the question I should be asking myself 'How do I encourage myself to play the TT ?"

ILuvPawn

By punishing yourself and drinking a glass of vinegar if you miss a day.

artfizz

1. Start by setting a realistic goal: say, 3 tactics per week.

2. Decide to cull - or put on hold - some other activity that is using your time.

3. Keep an easy-to-maintain, visible record; (stars stuck on a chart, perhaps).

4. Enlist a buddy to either keep pace with you and/or monitor your compliance. (One of your kids, perhaps, could check up each week that you've reached your target).

5. Decide what reward you're going to give yourself at the end of each week to CELEBRATE achieving that week's target.

HAVE FUN!

Great tips artfizz, thank you.

Self motivation is hard -- I think there are some books written on it... heh probably a lot of books now that I think about it.  Artfizz gave some good tips.

TheHappyFatVegan

you can punish yourself by making a bad move in our chess game :)

Your problem is probably procrastination.  There are ways to fix this, but I can't tell you right now - perhaps tomorrow.

read your post later...

I didn't read all the posts, but I usually tell my girlfriend what my chess training schedule is, and all she does is ask me if I've done my work for the day. That motivates me enough so I don't look lazy to her . . .

Accountability is what you are looking for. Find somebody who cares about you and be accountable to that person. It works for many things in life... and chess is like life, no?

kco

no I haven't (I'll do them in the evening)Tongue out but hey, unless I am putting up the hintless puzzle now....Wink

Have you done your tactics training kco??

To answer your question, yes I did the TT for half a hour, thinking  of doing it daily. The only problem I find is that is very hard for me to see the opponent's move. I wish they put 'arrow' to show what moves was made.
