Hello! I'm ProfiMath and I like playing chess and doing puzzles on this site. I believe puzzles help you improve your play. Therefore I started an event where you can show your puzzle skills and improve. I'd now like to introduce this event.
The event is called the Puzzle Escape Rooms and the first season was held earlier this month. During season 1 we had some success we'd like to continue to season 2. In season 1 I sent the participants the puzzles and the 3 winners were the first 3 to get the correct sentence from the puzzles. Two of these winners were LawWhy2 (1st place) and erle19 (2nd place) will help me organise season 2 so we can make it better and deal with more people.
Season 2 will work as followed:
The event will have 3 phases: qualifiers where we can have up to 60 participants, knockouts and finals. Here's how they will work:
Qualifiers: Participants will receive 7 puzzles in messages and the fastest 50% to solve them will go on to the next round.
Knockouts: Participants will receive around 5 puzzles in their messages. In this phase we will split participants into 3 groups of 8-10 where the top 4 per group will continue on to the finals.
Finals: In this phase there will be 12 participants who will receive puzzles in their messages which will give them the final sentence when they have them all correct. The first three to have the final sentence will win.
What will the prizes be?
Winers can choose froma selection of prizes and will receive trophy images. The options per place are here:
1st place - 100 cheers of their liking; 5 unrated games with LawWhy2, erle19 or me in any time control and variant; an empty club to use; a chance to advertise their club in my club's notes once
2nd place: 50 cheers of their liking; 3 unrated games with LawWhy2, erle19 or me in any time control and variant
3rd place: 10 cheers of their liking; 1 unrated game with LawWhy2, erle19 or me in any time control and variant
When will the event start?
The qualifiers will start on 21st October.
How can you register?
You can register by writing or quoting the following in the comments: "I would like to participate in season 2." Once you have registered I will invite you to the info club where we will provide you with any new information. You may not be in the info club if you are not participating. One week before the start of the qualifiers we will send everyone who has registered a cheer and we will ask you to send one back to confirm your participation.
