Puzzle rating 2000, 10mins game rating 1500

My puzzle rating on Chess.com is 2000+. However, in my 10min games I cannot reach 1600... What am I doing wrong? How do I bridge that gap? Is a 10 mins too short of a game to find/apply tactics? NOTE: I believe that I have some decent understanding of opening/middle game theory/strategy.

Puzzle ratings are usually way higher than all the other ratings on this site, usually about 400-500 higher.

2000 puzzle vs 1500 live rating is normal.

actual games have no clear-cut solution so it's okay to struggle finding a path and losing. as long as you try to find and correct that mistake.

Well, chess is not only about tactics, positional skill, openings, endings and strategy maters as well. So maybe your opening can make you worse, endings...

Is it only a 400-500 difference? My rapid rating is about 1700, but my puzzle rating is 2400 and seems to be rising much faster than my rapid. Does that mean my rapid rating is underrated?

I was also thinking about option, that you can solve for exmple 2000 rated chess puzzle, but it will be much more difficult to spot it in the game - that means you need to see more 2000 puzzles to see them in the game and in reality you can be able to see like 1600 rated puzzles because you solved more of them. Plus you know that you are searching for some ideas in puzzles, this is thing that you do not have to realise in the game and just overlook something. Anayway, I am interesred in ideas of others.

From your puzzle stats. it looked like you often spend over a minute looking for the solution to a tactic that you know is in the position. Would you spend this much time in a 10 minute game looking for a tactic that may not be in the position? That might tell you whether you should play longer games if you want to benefit from your tactical skills.

Ratings are relative. 2000 in one category is not meant to be compared to 2000 in another. It's a misconception that ratings are absolute measures of skill.

What you can do is notice trends to check whether you're unusually high or low rated in a category. For example on chess.com the great majority of peopel have a puzzle rating 400 to 600 higher than their live ratings.

Depends on the player, some people are extremely good at puzzles while some people are more balanced like you.

Puzzle ratings look to be effectively unbounded. I think the top rating is something over 65 000.

Username vskopalik rating 65535 at 1225GMT 11/1/2021.

I'm pretty sure that's at least 500 pts higher than their rapid rating.

Wow! Now that's impressive

As others have pointed out, there is not too strong a connection between puzzle rating and blitz or rapid rating, and most people have much higher puzzle ratings.

Puzzle rating is way higher. Its normal. You solve a puzzle you get like 10-20 points but you need to play an entire game to get that.
