Puzzles that feel harder/easier than rating..

I noticed when I do puzzle survival it seems that some puzzles are way harder than what it is rated. Granted I am specifically talking about low rated puzzles below (<1000) but I am curious how they base the rating. Usually in the 500-700 range those puzzles are pretty tough for me. but 800 rated ones I breeze by until I hit 1000 or so then it is hit or miss.

Thinking about it, most of the puzzles I struggle the with in the 500-700 range is puzzles with only kings and pawns. When I see puzzles like that I just know survival mode is getting ready to give me that big red X.  For me those puzzles feel a lot less intuitive and I have to think much harder to come up with the answer. I guess I am wondering if they base the rating of puzzles on intuitiveness or is it possibly be because that is something beginner chess players learn from studying early on.

Just trying to justify why I keep missing puzzles at 500 rating.

Puzzles get ratings just like players. They are assigned some initial rating an then go up or down based on being passed or failed.

A lot of times, it comes down to missing fundamental tactical patters, so if you don't have experience with a particular pattern or idea, it may be harder to calculate the line. I used to reset my ratings in puzzles to get back to some earlier puzzles to get access to puzzles like that. Now, with the the larger range of rating the trainer gives, I can get a lot more of those.
