shouldnt it still be mate even if the king was in super positon ? i mean the queen is basically superposition-mating him in every direction. on another note awesome video 😂😂😂

This is a new variant Alex!  I'm launching a kickstarter to help pay some developers so I can make a distributable version!  The game you saw in the video was a playable prototype.  The variant developed by Selim Akl at queens is different.

Pretty cute. However, the video wrongly used the word "piece" instead of "unit," and assuming red was representing Black, the game started with Black moving first.

Yes, unfortunately there are a few errors in the video, even beyond those you mention.  :)

Yes, I just looked up the queensu link above, and it said one of the rules is that the king must always be in a classical state, whereas in the video the guy (Rudd) doing the Legal's Mate had his king in superposition, not a classical state.

This is very interesting to me since I'm a programmer, chess player, and quantum mechanics enthusiast, so please contact me if you can think of any way I can fit into your project.

Quantum chess looks lame. The humor isn't funny either.

@Sqod

The queens link above is not the game in the video.  The rules for that game are significantly different.  You can check out our game at

www.quantumrealmgames.com or the Kickstarter at www.pledgequantumchess.com

We don't have the rules written up yet for viewing, but that is coming. The video actually does a pretty good job of explaining the rules for quantum moves. Specifically in response to your point about the king, in our game ALL pieces may exist in superposition.  I will be posting a blog soon explaining how superposition works in the game!  You'll be able to see it at www.quantumchessblog.com!

So last night I did a twitch live stream of gameplay.  I'll be doing more in the near future, and I'd love to get some people from the chess community to join and provide feedback!  I don't claim to be an amazing chess player, in fact I'm learning the terminology as I go.

If you're interested, subscribe to the mailing list at www.quantumrealmgames.com and you'll see the announcement for the next live stream event!  I really want to make this game competative and fun, while maintaining the quantum nature.  Feedback from people in the chess community can help a lot!

Thanks Paul Radd for idea of game!

I am definitely going to purchase this. Really cool idea/execution. Imo more fun/interesting than Fischer random or crazy horse.
