I also tried searching for it no luck. try looking for sites that stream new movies online. That is the only thing you can do
Queen of Katwe

I don't think chess was ever that important to her. She may have some talent but she is mainly focused on her own future and career. Her rating has been dripping since 2012 and according to the article she has only played 39 matches in the last 4 years. She clearly doesn't commit time to regular study or any real attempts at improvement.

me too want to watch praveen, its ironical that such insipirational movies are not played for atleast a week in a city like Bangalore.

Realistically she is a B player at best and not a CM, but FIDE made an exception because of her performance in the 2012 Olympiad.

Why make an exception for a terrible performance ? Makes no sense .
FIDE did not make any exception for her. She scored 5.5 in 10 games in the Istanbul Olympiad.
Scoring 50% in an olympiad (at any point after at least 7 games) gives an instant CM (or WCM).
Same way score 65% (at any point after 9 games) gives an FM or WFM.
Those are the rules, applied to dozens of players every Olympiad.
EDIT: Correction, she scored 4.5 in her first 9 games to get the title.

At the 2012 Olympiad, she won just a single match against a Korean rated 1542. She drew three times and also lost three times. That was enough to receive a WCM.

The writer of that article clearly didn't do much research in regards to the main point of his story. All he had to do was google her name and her 2012 Olympiad results would be available for him to see. She qualified for a direct title per FIDE rules.

I also missed the movie at the cinema. It is supposed to be available on DVD this coming January, though I'm not sure if that is a worldwide release or just in the US.
Surprised that a national master (NM Reb) does not know how titles are awarded at Olympiad and even World Youth. Please go read up on it.
Don't expect the dailycaller to write correct facts about an african. Just a propaganda publication.

Its not propaganda that they have awarded a B class player (1600-1799) with a title that she doesnt deserve . Such " affirmative action " titles only serve to devalue fide titles . I am well aware that fide gives such titles and the overwhelming majority of chess players I know consider them a joke .

I already know how they are awarded and its a silly joke in such cases as hers , but not only hers . Who cares if she scored 50% in one olympiad when the strength of her opponents doesnt even matter ? Look at the ratings of her opponents , particularly the opponents she beat in that Olympiad . She is certainly no " prodigy " in chess , thats just a bald faced lie .
I have missed this movie while it was showing in the Cinema's and I am looking to desperately watch this movie. Is there any way to purchase this movie online? I have searched and have had no luck.
