Question about leagues: when does a division begins and ends? (And other similar questions)

Chess.com has a lot of great features, but most of them are largely undocumented. The new Leagues is here, hyped for over a month, something that could easily motivates player to spend more time online, and instead the majority of players don’t  know what to do with them. I see a lot of (legit) questions, and even if I know myself most of the answers I am still baffled about how they could have easily been more understandable and exciting. Take the division period, for example… 0 days 0 hrs left? If I were a casual player I would think it’s broken. I challenge anyone who doesn’t know which is the period to find any official mention about it.

Instead there could be some great banners showing a countdown for the next league period, and an impressive one at the end with a summary of new trophies, divison advancement, personal achievements in past leagues and - you know - all that kind of stuff that every esport has…

In my opinion leagues are so far just another huge waste of development time. Will it ends like the “Score achievements”? Another example of something that could have been motivating players but turns out to be just a hidden feature…

I've only seen the timer be correct. I think it was just bad luck you checked right when leagues were beginning/ending.

In everyone's profile you can see their performance in past leagues.

Divisions begin/end at 12 pm Pacific time (8 pm UTC). I believe it always shows 0 when there's less than an hour left.

No. As Martin_Stahl said, divisions begin/end on Sunday at 12 pm Pacific time (8 pm UTC), not "on Sunday". That's what players should know, unless you are just playing one game a day or fewer…

Ok, first… that document is not linked to each player's "information icon", which instead redirects to this bare https://www.chess.com/leagues page. Chess.com has something like 40M players, do we really think they will all research through forums and news to find it?

Second, confront the news page with all the questions on this forum, and you'll see that half of them are from players who didn't find that link, and the other half are not being addressed at all. Just and example, the division begin and end time is not mentioned at all. Of course, a good share of players who read the news and check the forum will end up finding all the needed info, but I belive it's still around 1%-5% of the +40M player base…

Sure man, I agree, it's frustrating to me too sometimes.

Even worse is the league article you can find via their FAQ doesn't have all the info that the news one does, and IMO the way the FAQ one is written is fairly poor (if I were paying someone to write that I would find someone new...).

While the exact time isn't documented, the division page at least gets it within the hour. Much of the rest of the information can be found in the support pages https://support.chess.com or using the help and search options in the main menus, towards the bottom.
