I suggest you delete that comment; I think that the OP would have benefitted from the learning experience if you hadn't ruined it for him.

I guess that's one answer. Best to track the thread, before making any rash conclusions.

People who are over-eager to explain things are the reason we have people under-eager to figure out things.

I oughta frame this.

EDIT: Oh wait, I just did.

There are people who help other people. And there are people who hinder those people who are helping other people. And there are people who not just hinder people but actually use the Internet to hide themselves. Perhaps lack of maturity?

I wonder what a psychoanalyst would say about these last group of people (calling Dr. Freud, calling Dr. Freud...)

I presume you mean yourself? Yes, you are a very good and helpful person. You deserve a gold star.

And there are people who hinder those people who are helping other people.

Yeah, to post that comment, you had to fight through hordes of evil ninjas. You, sir, are a true hero.

And there are people who not just hinder people but actually use the Internet to hide themselves.

I would say the exact same thing if this occurred in person; The internet has nothing to do with it.

Perhaps lack of maturity?

Yes, the most foolish, immature, and downright crazy thing anybody could do is to have a laugh or two.

I wonder what a psychoanalyst would say about these last group of people (calling Dr. Freud, calling Dr. Freud...)

What would a psychoanalyst say about someone who thinks anybody less serious than they is immature, hiding, and impeding progress?

(And perhaps also relevant, what would a psychoanalyst say about someone who had to start a thread asking what "[COMMENT DELETED] means?")

Apologies to the OP for the stupid crap in #10.

Barefoot_Player

I've seen and read all these excuses before - Make fun of a person, suggestion, or an idea, then claim it all to be a joke.

Interesting how these same people cannot or would not make jokes about themselves.

Pehaps a little less of sarcasm and a little more of humilty is called for.

Making fun, by definition, is a joke; that's why it's called making fun.

Interesting how these same people cannot or would not make jokes about themselves.

What makes you think I wouldn't?

Pehaps a little less of sarcasm and a little more of humilty is called for.

Perhaps a little less sanctimonious pigeonholing and a little more thought preceding personal attacks is called for.

oinquarki

I think we're about even as far as stupid insults go at this point. That means now we can respect eachother's views and disagree without being jerks; Nothing like a fight to bring people together, eh?Smile

Just a few comments to oinquarki's comments.

"Making fun, by definition, is a joke; that's why it's called making fun." So bullying is OK, right?

You claim you can make jokes about yourself. "What makes you think I wouldn't?" Because I haven't seen a single joke about yourself over seven posts here.

"Perhaps a little less sanctimonious pigeonholing and a little more thought preceding personal attacks is called for."

I agree with you  oinquarki. But I didn't make any personal attacks, at least I don't think I did. Besides, you can take a joke, can't you? Oh, I'm sorry, maybe my comment about some people : "Interesting how these same people cannot or would not make jokes about themselves", should be expanded to state that some people cannot take the same type of "humor" as they dish out.

Shame on you, oinquarki!  You upset Barefoot by not giving her a pat on the back for her ever so helpful answer to the OP.  You should apologize this instant for your rude behavior!

Deranged

The answer is [COMMENT DELETED]

Just a few comments to Barefoot_Player's comments.

Relax. I'm not bullying anybody except you, and I'm sure you can take it.

You claim you can make jokes about yourself. "What makes you think I wouldn't?" Because I haven't seen a single joke about yourself over seven posts here.

You made no personal attacks; you attacked everybody who says stupid stuff.

Besides, you can take a joke, can't you? Oh, I'm sorry, maybe my comment about some people : "Interesting how these same people cannot or would not make jokes about themselves", should be expanded to state that some people cannot take the same type of "humor" as they dish out.

In what way is this in any way the same "humor" I dish out?
