i believe
"Winners never quit and quitters never win"

That is a silly quote. Yeah I heard it a couple a hundred times before. Just think how stupid it sounds.

I feel all of you are wrong. It means that winners never quit, because they are hardworkers, initiative taking, and responsible.Quitters never win means that the ones who just dream in the sky and don't take initiative and aren't either hardworking or responsible.I think that explains it?

It is a true comment.I asked how many of you believe in it,not refering to the stupidity of the sound, romancitoG

How many of you believe in this quote?I feel it is a really good quote.
Its as rediculous as any of the nike quotes. Of course i dont believe in this mentality. In chess, every world champion has resigned, so they quit. Eveybody has quit at something.

of course, the quote works in some situations and not others.
I rather like it as reminder that to master a certain subject takes perseverence, and by continueing to study and work at getting better- you are preparing yourself for some great victories.
doesn't that saying sound better than my wordy explanation??
at any rate, it clearly isn't talking about gassing jews- thats a bizarre viewpoint! the saying was clearly talking about games or sports-- and that is the way people normally think of it.

Winners take all the chances given and don't believe in slacking off if there's a goal to achieve. Winners know how to silence the negativity in their own spirit to do what they dream of, and they don't let people knock them down; That, in a sense, can be seen as "never quitting." Of course, the quote refers more to the overall attitude and should not be taken too literally! Sometimes, quitting is the best option, to conserve energy in the short term to reap benefits in the long term. However, if one is in the habit of "conserving energy" with no particular goal in mind, then that's not really "conserving energy." It's being lazy. Hence, "... quitters never win."

I prefer: "If at first you don't succeed, try and try again. But after that quit, there's no use being stubborn about it."

Fiveofswords, you should never give hope.Well champions also only resign with champions because they know thats their opponent is not going to miss it.But then you can see that they play more against lower rateds if they are losing. It is really a psychological thing. And if you don't care who wins, then you are not a chess player.
