So I've been playing chess for the past 7 years for fun. I never knew how to write down the pieces name. For example

KxNf5 Qxc3

And so on. Could you guys recommend me books for tactics and intermediate chess players ?

Here's a good source for book recommendations:

1.My System

2.Improving Chess Thinker (all levels)

3.Think Like a Grandmaster

4.Silman's Endgame Course, Survival Guide to Rook Endings, and Secrets of Pawn Endings.

However, with 1243 live standard you aren't quite intermediate yet, but all my recommendations above apart from My System still stand.

- Solve Tactical Puzzles. This is very important because of pattern recognition! I suggest http://chess.emrald.net

- Play slow games. This helps me a lot. I mean really slow. 90min+ on each side for the first 40 moves.

- I recommend the following books (I am reading them):

1. The Improving Chess Thinker (Heisman) This book is REALLY good. In order to progress, you need to practice. Only practical, very slow games let you train the thought process. This will help you eliminate blunders and more often find the best move. You can check out Smirnov's free course on how to eliminate blunders, too.

2. The Amateur's Mind (Silman) On positional understanding. The Improving Chess Thinker comes first, though, because it contains the basics.

3. Silman's Complete Endgame Course

You'll need quite some time to study all this material.
