They could have cut him a break, as he was only going 167 mph over the speed limit. This is what I mean, cops and traffic court judges are so unreasonable.

Lord_Hammer

Only 167 mph over the speed limit?

Lord_Hammer

Yeah, I guess.

If it was on a highway, you don’t think 242 mph is a bit too much, right?

krudsparov

Our police tried to ticket me driving at 46 in a 50 zone!!!

Thee_Ghostess_Lola

I would surmise their cheeks were fluttering ?

Highway speed limit is 65 mph.

No, it's only about 4 miles a minute. That means, it would still take 15 seconds JUST to go 1 dang mile.

That's equal to about 351 feet per second though...

I depends where you are. Some local highways are 55, some interstate highways are 70-85.

I've driven on roads with a speed limit of 65-70 but it was dangerous to go that speed because the slowest cars were going 85, the fastest probably 100.

llamonade

I heard in Canada there are no roads faster than 100 kph which is ~60mph

That would be dreadfully slow.

Freeways are 65 in the Bay Area in California.

I have made a lot of money representing people who were “ accused “ of violating various traffic laws, of course including speeding 😎

It's odd that you put the word "accused" in quotes though.

I mean... they were either accused or they weren't right?

JBabkes

I put the word accused in quotes because over the years less than 1% of my presumed innocent clients were adjudicated guilty.

Actually 354.93 feet per second. Sorry, I was bored, got off work early and don't have a life. Sad really.

Police aren't suppose to go faster than the fastest vehicle traveling about them. It's against code & guild.

They say it's one a those rule typa rules.

....the word 'law-yer' basically sounds like liar.

Indeed but nevertheless if a person wishes to avoid legal responsibility they would be well advised to consult with one.

Come on, that's the 2nd poorly phrased post in the last few minutes. I thought lawyers were good with English.

Maybe an unfair criticism because this isn't court, I'm just sayin...

JBabkes

Poorly phrased. My comment is accurate

llamonade

Sure.

And maybe because a chess forum is your leisure time, you rather enjoy the freedom to be inaccurate, and that's fine, I'm just pointing it out.
