The titles are a joke anyway. Basically it is saying that women are inferior to men in the intellect department, and wouldn't be able to obtain a regular GM, IM, or FM title, so let's make it easier for them. (The criteria to obtain these female titles is less than the regular GM, IM or FM titles.)
I'm one who believes that women are NOT inferior to men. Yes, they are not as strong (physically), and yes, they can't run as fast, etc., which is why men and women don't compete together in sports. But chess is a game of the mind.
I do not believe they should have a lesser criteria to obtain the same title. I think it's an insult to their intelligence. Kudos to Judith Polgar for refusing to play in women's only tournaments.

Easy.
Because the pool of female players is far, far less than that of male players. With such a smaller pool, statistically you will have many more males at the top than females.
Females, for many reasons, don't "enjoy" chess the way men do. They aren't "wired" that way. But because they aren't wired that way doesn't make them "inferior."

Nope, I'm afraid you're wrong. In general, women are intellectually inferior to men (at high levels of intelligence). Of course there are exceptions; that's why I say "In general". But at high levels of intelligence, men are almost always going to be more intelligent.
Pretty interesting insite coming from someone on the lower end of the intelligence scale.
I recall Nigel Short saying something and getting his bottom spanked by a Ms Polgar...
