request to change username

I think you can change the username yourself, with out chess.com staff (provided that it is not identical to a current users' username). Go to "Home" and "Settings." Near the top of the page (with account information) there should be a hyperlink titled "change" next to your username. The rest is self-explanatory.   Hope that helps.

glad to help. I think it is somewhat cool to mix things up changing username and especially avatars, but I don't see myself changing mine

I don’t think so, when i changed mine, it didn’t tell me

Thanks for the response.  I guess I can do a member search for a particular handle.  If no one has a particular handle, then that handle must be available.  I'll try that.

Yeah, just type https://www.chess.com/member/ and then your desired username to check if it is taken.
