No.
Rule change to improve chess: Pawn can move three spaces on 1st move!

Pawns should be able to capture straight ahead too....why can their short swords not reach forward???

Pawns should have the option to move like any piece they're adjacent to.
they're often adjacent to all kinds of pieces, this would add temporary super pieces all over the board. I think it might ruin the computers calculation ability.

I believe in Affirmative Action, so I think the Black pawns should be able to promote as soon as the game starts.
But only the Black pawns.

I still think the best idea is that a pawn can move backwards especially on the first move. That way they could occupy the same square as a king or queen that would show them love and appreciation or maybe they could pet a horse. Before you send them out to be traded off and sacrificed!

In actual battle pawns on the front carried a lance that could take out the enemy on either side. The pawn in front carried a lance and large Shield that protected him from his frontal opponent . . .

I think three space moves would destroy the "infantry" nature of the Pawns. Of course, when they added the two spaces on 1st move rule - previously Pawns could only move one space, there were probably people who strongly objected.

On the contrary, it could be just the thing we need to drive innovation in artificial intelligence!
I'd like to spice up chess and I love pawn pushing. I believe this would change the game for the better; discuss.
