Anybody did read Stephan Zweig's "Chess novel". For those who don't, I highly recommend it. Do you think is possible to improve chess skills in such a way?

I haven't read it yet. Will try anyways! :)

I stopped long ago! Still, I wouldn't like to live an experience like the main character did even for 3000 Elo points.

Only if it has loads of pictures.

I read it last night. I don't think Zweig was a chess player, a few things weren't quite right IMO

But he for sure knew how to properly explain!

My problem with it was that Dr B, once he had learnt all of the games in the book would have started thinking about variations, instead of putting the book away and playing chess on his own.
But then again, this probably wouldn’t have made it a better story...

True, I didn't think of that.

The other thing that stood out to me was how unsympathetic the author was to Czentovic, emphasising he was a peasant and once he got a bit of money and fame he turned into a complete dick. Maybe that was the thinking in 1941 in Austria when this was written.
Saddened to read that Zwieg killed himself a year after writing this book.
