Scid for Mac help

I have downloaded the Scid for Mac files. It was a zip file so I unbundled that. Easy so far. But then could not figure out how to get it to load on the Mac. There is no .dmg file that I can see for example.

This may seem like a stupid question but I am new to Mac.

Thanks in advance.

Hi thanks, I have Scid now working I think. But wanted to add the Stockfish Engine. Not sure how to do that. What I have done is download from http://stockfishchess.org/download/ and selected the download "Binaries for engines - Stockfish 6 for Mac and not the version that is on the Applestore as I guess that is for standalone Stockfish.

It is at this bit that I get lost the download file is a zip file and I don't know what to do then.

I'm not a Mac guy, so I won't be able to answer any specific Mac questions. But in general, you'll have to find some Mac software that can unzip zip files. Then, whereever your Scid files were installed, you'll have to put the unzipped Stockfish folder inside the Scid engines folder. (In my Windows system, the path was "C:\Program Files (x86)\Scid\scid\bin\engines". I don't know what the path would be for Macs.) Then just follow the Scid instructions for installing engines.

To find an unzipping program for Mac, you might try this page:

Look in the section titled "Best Free File Archiver / Zip Utilities for Mac OS".
