Server Crash-What has happened?

Being the new year, they likely have had a huge amount of sign ups, and old members coming back to the game as a New resolution.
Too much traffic- is a nice problem to have- yet still a problem.

Don't worry, the servers just crashed because it's 'purge day' on the 2024 Daily Chess Championship tournament. In the last hour or two, about 150,000 games of chess timed out because of AFK opponents and opponents not playing their turns so the server is just playing catch up. Should settle down over the next few hours though

What happened?... Well, there was an earthquake in Japan and that shifted the techtonic plates in the Pacific Ocean and Calif is gonna be destroyed. And there was a fire on a plane, and oh dear, this drink is rather nice.

I was in a tournament, chess.com crashed. It auto-abandoned because I couldn't see my opponent's move and chess.com would not process my move. After that, I tried withdrawing from the tournament but the last round had already started. My opponent did not play his/her move for about 3 minutes, so I thought he/she had the same problem. However, as soon as chess.com was back online, it auto-resigned me because it finally processed my withdrawal. Will I get my 22 points of rating back or not?

I believe the site will do an automated refund due to the issue. If you don't see that with a couple of days, you can contact Support using the option in the menu
