I suppose because the olympics are based on physical events that require some form of skill in moving the body. Chess is a mental game.
Should Chess be an Olympic Sports?

Please not.
Being eligible to be counted as an olympic sport comes with several regulations that are mandatory for olympic sports, like doping controls.
The idea of having to let others watch you pee (for doping control) would probably do nothing to endear chess to young talents and would cost us many young talents in chess imho.

@dirty_sandbagger
chess is already a olympic sport. it has it's own olympic games though. It has doping control.The World Anti-Doping Agency classifies chess as a "low risk sport,"

Yes, they should play the bi-anual olympiad at both the Summer and Winter games.The only problem would be what drugs to test for. The Olympic coverage would be great for the sport. Their cut of the Olympic $ would be good to.Also the publicity would make our top chess players viable advertising stars. It would be all good.

Chess is a very popular game. But it's never played at olympics. Why are the consideration of selecting the game at olympics.
