study, play online, play some standard here and there, and i don't see any reason why playing otb should be bad if you have the time
Should i play OTB?

The game is the same online or OTB.
But as Estragon says its the whole atmosphere of the occassion, that is your real experience.

If you are serious about chess and learning the game and getting better at it, there is nothing better you can do. Other forms of chess pale in comparison to the classical time limits in a quiet tournament hall, the silence only pierced by the soft thud of pieces upon squares and the clicks as the clocks are pressed - and there still may be a few clocks which actually tick, too.
The tension, the anxiousness, the intensity and concentration just cannot be duplicated in any other form.
Go for it! And enjoy.
A classic description of what the game is all about; hear hear!
Hey guys currently rated at 1400 right now.. Should I play OTB? Will it make me get better??? I don't like playing standard on chess.com coz its underrate and people cheat... Any suggestions as how I should improve??
You should definitely do OTB! But one thing I have to say is that you should be prepared. If anything, chess.com standard is overrated so players of OTB rating will be higher than chess.com's standards. For example, a 1000 rated person can attain 1200-1400 chess.com rating.

I doubt this is true for live-standard. It seems to correlate pretty well with OTB ratings.
OTB is my favorite way to play. It is more of a social experience and the pieces are three-dimensional (for some reason the 3D aspect really influences my game). I've heard it said that communication is 90% body language, and 10% the words being used. I appreciate the increased insight when dealing with people. If not for Chess.com, I'd rarely even be on the internet.

I also like the social (or antisocial, lol) aspect of it. It adds a whole 'nother dimension to the game. It's definitely more fun for me.
