Once one of my friends pointed to a bishop in a game 2 other friends were playing, and he said:

"Is this piece called a bit*hsh*t?"

(B word and s word)

And we all started laughing.

lol that's funny <_< You shoulda made up funny names for all the pieces, starting with the "bi*hsh*t"!

Also, bullet chess (1 minute games) are almost always good for laughs!!! Caution: play on occassion because it doesn't efficiently improve your play.

Chuck Norris once pole vaulted over the Snake River.

Last year, top physicists tried to see what would happen if an instoppable force struck an inmovable object. But, Chuck Norris didn't see the point in punching himself in the chin.

Never underestimate the power of the pawn, or evidently this Chuck Norris fellow, but pawns cannot capture forward xD What a sad, sad way to learn chess. If it took years for him to get that out of his head and learn how a pawn moves, imagine how long it would take him to learn one tactic. lol

That means absolutely nothing. You may ignore it.

But who will be post #2000? Hmmmmmm lol

2,000 Allie? no, n-n-n-n-n-no. Just wait until

I noticed someone just jumped in and started with Chuck Norris. lolz. I love memes for some reason. Could. Not. Resist. Meming. FORUM. This one is for akafett.

Oh and to keep the forum on topic, yesterday at the cafe one of my sets was left unattended, and it was just on the table right behind me as I was watching another game. When I turned around, I saw what looked like a 7 year old kid seated at one of the ends of the board, and his dad just starts setting up the board. I was thinking "????" and just watched, going over how the pieces moved with this kid. Then he told me, "Oh, I thought this set belonged to the cafe."

And he gave me a whopper.

"When I was a kid growing up, my dad taught me that Pawns capture forward. It took me *years* to get that out of my head."

The guy's a piano technician (he gave me his business card with his email on it, which I forgot to bring so I could forward him the link to our meetup forum) and I didn't think I needed it, as I saw a "Joe" just recently joined so he found it without any problems.

But anyway, it took this guy, ehem, "years," to learn the proper way a Pawn moves.

Anyway that's my non-chesser moment of the week and sticking to it.

Did you find the nerve to ever tell your dad that his pawn method was false?

Remember, pawns actually do capture forward, but at a diagonal in a forward direction. So, he was taught correctly, but not specifically how.

Good call. Then we should teach them more specifically: pawns capture forwards diagonally only on the two squares in front of them.

@ dragonair: Someone gave you a platinum membership? That's cool. You see, if someone gives you a gives you a gift like that, it probably means he thinks a lot of you. If someone gave me a gift like that, it means I am in desperate need of improvement.

It could have been a female that gave it also, women chess players should encourage each other!

@ winerkleiner: You are correct, "one-hit-wonder Seahawks" fan. I just had to say that being a Greenbay fan (13 championship titles).

Actually, I'm rather pleased to see the 'hawks on championship scoreboard.

The Hawks will repeat their one hit wonder again next year!  Go Hawks!!

akafett

I pulled for them only because they are NFC. Quite honestly, I was playing chess 3/4 of the game.

winerkleiner

You are forgiven!
