It can be frustrating, it's true. But you can always set your game seeks to 48 hours, or even 24: among my main criteria for befriending players are they are around about my level or stronger, and don't take too long to play. It helps if they chat a bit, not it's not essential. Challenge coming your way!
Slow pace in online chess

Use short times betwen moves. . .most three days (which is the same as two days,. . . and to hell with vacations) And, not sure whether it helps.,, but try to get players close to your rating. (I personally play unrated games. . .no rating pressure and pure chess playing).

You all must have a different definition of "slow" than I do, or are more patient than I am, which admittedly is a fault of mine, but I think 24 hours is the maximum acceptable time limit, and that only because there's nothing shorter. I would like to see a 12 hour limit being made available, never to be foisted on another player, but available between consenting adults, as they say. If another player actually only moves once a day the game is nearly interminable. Just my opinion, of course.

Some of us work and some of us work more than 40 hrs/week. Plus we might have a myriad of things to do other than sit at a computer playing chess. I prefer 3 days per move for turn-based chess so I can skip a day to take care of more pressing matters. Some days I can sit for several hours playing several game almost simultaneously but unfortunately it's rarely. Bottom line, nobody is holding a gun to your head to play at their time control. If you don't like it don't play. >:[

- I played one tournament that lasted just slightly less than a year -
never again
- what was funny was that I one one game but the fellow I played would always take three days - and during the game which I won and I was pressing with check - - - even when he had only one move - he would take the three days - - - and many of the players took the three days and
would take vacation time !!!!!
never again
I only like to play the 15 10 thingys
Really very slow . It seems people are so busy in breeding out there.
