Some people just need to take a break...

I think I was most impressed by the persistance of this one. If someone has a bad attitude, they typically end the game with "loser u suck" and leave while I chalk it up to teenage angst. But this guy wanted so bad to prove to me he could beat the pants off of me. Life takes all kinds I guess...

Taking pleasure in people flexing their ego, wanting to hear more stories about people flexing their ego, and reveling in their inferiority and "14-year old mindsets".... well that's sort of an ego stroke too, isn't it?

Would you feel bad if the opponent was in fact 14 years old?
NM TonyDal: I'm a bit surprised you've encountered this type of individual at clubs/tournaments. For sure the same people play both internet chess and OTB chess but it is for me like Jeckyl and Hyde. It's like driving - the anonymity afforded emboldens the individual.
That's just my experience.

touche...but I'd like to think it was about someone who absolutely must be better than someone else, not me trying to show how good I am and consequently feed my ego. I guess I thought message boards were about sharing experiences
If he/she was indeed 14, then I can't help but chuckle, because I've been there (although not nearly this volatile!)

Jerks like that should have their accounts deleted. It shows poor sportsmanship and from the use of the word "fag" as a derogatory, possible homophobia. If there's an official complaints process here, I'd use it. I got a warning over a forum post once that couldn't possibly have offended anybody except, apparently, the one mod who caught it. if I get a warning for a completely innocent comment, something like what you received should get at least a suspension.
Ozzie,
If he really was 14 years old, then now is the time to dissuade him from that sort of behavior before it becomes a lifelong habit. Letting things slide because someone is young has a nasty way of biting you later when the kid grows up anti-social and ends up killing someone. Bad behavior needs to be corrected as soon as it happens.

wow, I checked it out and it makes mine look completely inoccuous

There are more jerks online playing chess than there are playing OTB imo.

Of course tho Tony, there are many jerks and weirdos! who play OTB too.

Although I've only been playing at the local clubs for around a year and a half or so and tournaments for less then half of that I just wanted to say that this has not been my experience at all. There have been a very few people with bad attitudes. On the other hand I've met some really great people, and over all my experiences have been quite enjoyable.

lol. here was my game with JurisDoctor and what he messaged me afterwards:

yeah bitch...run from the table with your good fortune still intact. you got your ass whooped up and down the board. only thing funnier than your elementary game is your inferior intelligence. was a pleasure destroying you and watching you run like the bitch you are. do yourself a favor though and find a checkers room to play at instead. your mind is better suited for it.
~~~
lol??? what can you do?
hahaha, oh man...some people just need to step back and take a look at themselves.
I was playing on live chess earlier and accepted some random seek from a person called JurisDoctor. Now, I am only a 1300 player and he came in at 1375...after losing a piece to me in 10 moves or so he announces that he is "on the phone" and says something about how bad I am. I check mate him 20 something moves and he swears at me and tells me how bad I am and how he will totally own me at another game.
Now, I'm not a huge fan of being e-bashed, mostly because I think its pathetic and indivduals who do so strike me as pretty insecure if they need to demonstrate their chess skills in such a way. I'm all for competitiveness, but its just stupid to me to repeatedly personally attack the other player, and I want no part in that. In all likelihood, he would have beat me had we played a second game, and I don't have a problem with that, my problem was with him. So he insults me a little more, and I continue to decline...and we go our seperate ways.
BUT NO, ITS NOT DONE!~ I can't help but sit here laughing when I read this, but apparently it wasn't over. Here's the message he sent me.
not only are you unintelligible on the chess table, and a coward for running from the table with your good fortune in tact....but youre also an internet loser...lol. who takes that much time out of their life to make a profile on chess.com and puts all that info on. "i pretty much like to play any disc sport"..haha. fag was a pleasure outsmarting you while still on the phone. you got the chess points...and a steady dose of pathetic reality. enjoy looking in the mirror tomorrow woodpusher
-Its completely beyond me how someone would take this much time out of their day to send something like this! Seriously, the insecure 14 year old mentality is fantastic. Has anybody else run into a piece of work like this? If so, I want to hear about it! If not, please at least do me the favor of going to his wall and telling him life is going to be ok :D
oh, and here's the mediocre game we played
