i say. "what's so interesting about shooting people in army games."
Some people say chess is a boring game

I used to think chess is boring until I started winning a few games. It's just like racing, it's boring until you can beat a few other racers.

Oh, Mr. Aussie Kangaroo, I play tennis way better than I play chess!
Well I play chess way better than I play tennis!!!!

chess isn't that boring, but if you start comparing it to ludo, snakes and ladders and buckeroo then yes it really is boring.

no! i found it way more exciting the less i knew about the game. in my home town all the chessers feared anyone who played the fools mate, they were the chess bullies. eventually when someone started reading chess books we discovered the antidote, the French defense.
i often remember leaving my queen en prise and having to sit there at the board for ages whistling like it was a trap i had played. no, the less you know the more exciting the game is.

Chess is boring if you lose every game. It gets more fun when you start winning. I used to play turnaround chess with my small nephews. The could turn the board whenever they wanted. A couple of years later there were no need to turn the board.
Michael Tal played turnaround chess with his neighbours, but it was he that decided when the board should be turned, usually when he thought it was an interesting position to defend.
What do you say to them
