It's actually not that bad. My fancy set cost $220, and my travel set cost roughly $50-60... so $300 isn't too bad. The way I look at it is people spend $$400-500 on playstations or a xbox.. this is basically the same to me bc i dont play video games, i play chess POORLY! lol

Don't get me wrong, in terms of engineering this chessboard is totally worth the price an it seems really cool, but I was just a bit disappointed by the look and the price :/. I mean it could be nifty in some situations, but I feel like the use is pretty limited for the price. As for the game console comparison, I think those are also way too expensive lol
but hey, if you can afford it why not 
300$ is awesome if the pieces move themselves. Dgt boards cost 1000$ and as far as I know you can’t play online with them.

Do yourself a favor and order a square off board! It is flipping sweet!
Got mine as well! I have played jr already and it is amazing. Playing live over the board states away from each other. It is really cool.

LOL that's an understatement bud! I cannot believe how spectacular this square off chess set is.... its way better than i expected. Haha so good that it makes it hard going to work in the morning and even harder going to sleep knowing there is otb games just waiting.

Looks really cool.
I am not sure if I will order one, as I don’t have much space in my apartment (too many books and a large chess collection). I think the computer is not suited to me, as I usually play two Daily games simultaneously.
But I can imagine that for rapid or longer games it is awesome!
Where do you usually play with it? Did you try in chess.com?

Has anyone heard of this Square Off chess set?
It is a chess board that uses blue tooth to your phone, and lets you play an opponent from anywhere in the world.
So basically it merges online chess & otb chess. Your opponent pieces move by their self. And when you move on the board it registers on your opponents tablet/phone/computer.
Pretty sweet idea on kickstarted now and they are doing preorders now. I rarely get a chance to play otb games. Stuck playing online games over the phone isn't the best way to increase your skill level.
I was wondering if anyone heard of it, and think it is safe to purchase?? Seems too good to be true though. I would hate to pay $300 for a set and never get it.
Ps. Also, chess.com staff- do you know if this board will be compatible with your app?? They said they're in talks with y'all now. True or false?
