Absolutely you should get a grand kingdom it worth the extra money you will love the feature of storing and resting pieces
Square Off - Chess Set

So, which model should I buy?
Is the Grand Kingdom worth the extra money?
Yeah, I really love my Grand Kingdom Set too. I play it every day. I think it is well worth the extra $80.00. I never played the Kingdom set but when i bought mine I knew it was going to be getting a lot of use and having the board reset itself is very nice in between games.
When I prepare for a USCF tournament I will play four 45|45 minute games on my square off set so I am use to the long time sitting and playing chess. The reset feature is lovely for a break in between matches. Also, I know streaming will work for both eventually but as of know it only works for the GKS. Either way though, you'll love it.

Support is great I am sure they are working to improve it. Contact them let them know you had the same issue.

In order for them to see the issue request to be in the beta resting. Try sending the log files when an issue arrises .go to the about page in the app click on the picture. Then go back to the contact us link and let them know the issue and that you just sent a log file

I've encountered the same problem and I lost some rating points because I resigned with a winning position. They haven't adjusted my rating points, maybe I should ask them to take care of my lost rating points.
A clear sign that this product is not mature yet.
Square off is now on sale in the UK, Chess & Bridge shop. However they want GBP 495 for the Kingdom and GBP 595 for the GK!! GK is USD 495 on the Square off store. That's a steep markup.

Hello Mx5driver, the chess & bridge shop is not an official square off chess set distributor. They must of bought it and added a mark up. For the best price follow Dennis response
Thanks Dennis!

I'll post a picture of my set at some point, but I wanted to provide an update and additional details about my original post.
I ordered the Square Off board relatively early (Grand Kingdom set with limited edition Duvrobnik(?) pieces). The pieces were nicely made and beautiful, but there were inconsistencies in the size of pawns, they were a little unstable, and the magnets were not all flush. The board worked well and then malfunctioned during an update. Customer support was incredible in helping trouble shoot the problem. Ultimately, they replaced the set. I sent it back in November and just received the replacement.
I set everything up yesterday. Two things I noticed. First, the power cord was just for US outlets, as compared to the first board that had adapters. This is no big deal, since they don't do me any good, but it makes it seem like they are becoming more efficient in their production. Second, the limited edition pieces were replaced with standard pieces. On the one hand, I loved the look of the others, but these are easier to use on the board. They are more stable, the pieces are more consistently crafted, and all the magnets are flush. I asked about why the change was made and it had to do with production quality.
I didn't have time for a real game, so I tested it using the computer. One thing I noticed immediately was how much more smoothly the pieces moved. Since I have the Grand Kingdom set, it has a reset function. This is also greatly improved in terms of speed. Previously, it took a long time. It still took longer than it would for me to do it by hand, but it was still pretty fast and would be handy to reset and while you did other things.
If you are on the edge, jump. It's worth it.
Hello. Does anybody know how to disable the sounds from the square off? I mean the sound that comes when you press the piece on the board. I am not speaking about the sound coming from the moving mechanism. I have disabled the sounds in the App, but it disables only the sounds coming from my mobile phone.

Hmmm, I don’t know, but anyway, it would be difficult to know if the device accepted your move without the sound, or not?
I do not see a problem with disabling the sound. If the device would accept my move, then it would move its piece. If it would not move shortly, I would know that I need to make the move again. It is just question of getting used to that. The problem with the sound is that if somebody close is sleeping or watching TV .... so that he/she does not constantly hear the sound of the Square Off.

Is there no user manual for the SquareOff?
