I just recently started getting into chess. I can beat the chess.com medium computer (~1200) about half of the time but really all I do is follow the piece values as best i can (pawn = 1, knight = 3, bishop = 3, rook = 5, queen = 9). I do not know any general strategies and I am awful whenever i try to play any kind of timed/blitz chess.
I have one chess book but most of it is explaining basics of how pieces move, etc. I am looking for a good starter/intermediate (just not the very basics) book but there are sooooooo many out there. Any recommendations?
