I like the Alapin Sicilian.

Mr.ErnestStavroBlofeld,this is a good opening,did you know that?After 4. ... exf4 d4,white has good lines and this is a good opening.

TrumanB

This is an interesting opening, I played a few times in blitz and won those games if I recall well. I will play it again and give examples here.

By the way, instead of 4.f4 I prefer 4. g3 with latter bishop on g2.

TrumanB
after move 21 I ment ''open e file''.

It says Alapin OPENING: STRANGE and DUBIOUS

Alapin is justa variation of a Sicilian and it's not strange nor dubious.;)

Ok, aside from "The Alapin Opening" and "The Sicilian Defense, Alapin Variation" being completely different things that are clearly differentiated in the title (it doesn't say variation anywhere, it does say opening; the op has a clear example of the alapin opening, not the sicilian, etc.), at the very least, you now know.  So, the proper thing to do would be apologize and not derail the thread further.

Somehow, I doubt it will happen.

TrumanB

Absolutely agree! Sicilian Alapin is only a variation, not an opening!

TrumanB

I want to see more games with Alapin opening, not chat!

Drunken_Tool

That's really lame

Drunken_Tool

I hate those openings

TrumanB

Then don't post on this topic! This thread is for Alapin fans only!Cool By the way, I also like the Alapin variation of the Sicilian...

Damn! I chose a wrong option so If you want to watch the game you'll have to press the bulb all the time. :(

I think the idea of playing 2.Ne2 at the time was to play f4 without losing a pawn. With that in mind 3.f4 was the main idea and 3.d4 is another way of playing.

TrumanB

Yes, but those moves ( especially f4 ) are weaker than g3. After 3.f4 white is in trouble if black plays properly. Pushing  f-pawn is OK but but a few moves later.
