Strategies for lightning chess.

Hello guys,

I'm posting because my school is about to have a lightnting tournment and I'm going to play on it. I've never played this kind of chess, but I know it's fun, and I also tried to play in the Internet, but I lost because on time. I'm the highest rated there and I can't lose even one game. If you are able to help posting hints and strats, thanks.

I think one great strat is to keep the tension (every high level match has to agree with it) of the game and let your opponent think.

Thanks for reading,

I don't understand why people play lightning "chess."  If chess is a game of thinking, where does lightning chess fit in? It's not even fun to me since it's the exact opposite of what I want in chess. The fastest time limit I actually enjoy is 5 0. Anyway, my advice is to stick to an opening you either know well or can play quickly. Fianchetto openings can be played quickly for example.

Yes definitely play openings you know well so that they just flow without much thinking. Also, like with everything, practice and experience helps you recognise certain patterns and structures that can be played more quickly in games to come.
