I'm not sure if Positional vs tactical is the right way to assert GM's, since they are all very good at everything, rather, risk taking is another factor that isn't considered enough.
Take Leko for example, he's good at both tactics and positional playing, as is to be expected from a player of his strength, however, he hates to go in for commiting play, and he usually let his advantage slip to his fingers, instead of going in for commiting, but maybe two sided play.
Compare that to Topalov, who goes in for comitting two sided play pretty much all the time.
If the GM's on here are to be beleived there are two styles of play:-
1. Positional
2. Tactical
I would add at least one
3. Wait for your opponents move, try and find a response that is not a catastrophe, play it and hope not to make the last mistake in the game. I suspect most of us may be in this boat.
